Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol has voiced support for Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema, urging a global outlook over political divides.
In an industry often shaped by the tides of nationalism and politics, Sunny Deol—widely known for his patriotic roles in blockbusters like Gadar and Border—has surprised many with his open-minded take on the ongoing debate around cross-border collaborations. The buzz was sparked by the teaser release of Abir Gulaal, a romantic drama featuring Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor, set to hit screens on May 9, 2025.
Speaking to HT City, Deol offered a grounded perspective:
“I wouldn’t like to get into the political side because that’s where things get messy. We are actors, and we work for everyone across the world. Whether someone is watching or not, our work is for everyone. The world is becoming more global, and it should stay that way.”
Though his comment—“let there be more countries”—raised a few eyebrows, his broader message was clear: art transcends borders, and actors should not be judged by nationality but by their craft.
