Nikhil Nanda, the Chairman and Managing Director of Escorts Kubota, and the son-in-law of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, is embroiled in a serious legal controversy. He has been accused of fraud and abetment to suicide, with a case filed against him in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh.

The legal action stems from the tragic death of Jitendra Singh, a businessman who ran Jai Kisan Traders, a tractor dealership in Dataganj. According to reports, Singh was allegedly pressured by Nanda and other senior executives of Escorts Kubota to meet unrealistic sales targets. Facing mounting stress and threats that his dealership licence would be revoked, Singh took his own life in November 2024.
Following Singh’s death, his brother Gyanendra filed a police complaint, accusing Nanda and multiple senior officials of Escorts Kubota of fraud, intimidation, and pushing Singh to suicide. The complaint named not only Nanda but also other company leaders, including area and sales managers, as well as a local dealer from Shahjahanpur.

Married to Shweta Bachchan, daughter of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Nanda is also a member of the legendary Kapoor family. His mother, Ritu Nanda, was the daughter of Raj Kapoor, and his uncles include Bollywood icons Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor.
Nanda’s educational background includes schooling at The Doon School in Dehradun and business management studies at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
