The much-anticipated release of The Legend of Maula Jatt in India has been postponed yet again, leaving fans disappointed. The Pakistani blockbuster, starring Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan, was set to hit theaters in Punjab but has been halted due to a legal petition.

Distributor Nadeem Mandviwala confirmed the news, citing a court case initiated by a far-right Hindu group as the reason for the delay. “Unfortunately, the release has been delayed due to ongoing legal proceedings, and we’re waiting for the court’s decision,” Mandviwala told Indian media.

This delay adds to the challenges faced by the film, which was expected to be a breakthrough for Pakistani cinema in India. The film, released in Pakistan in October 2022, is a remake of the 1979 classic and follows the legendary rivalry between Maula Jatt and Noori Natt.

Although the release is stalled, Mandviwala remains hopeful, stating, “When the time comes, it will mark a significant moment for cross-border cinema.” The delay also echoes the 2016 ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood, which followed political tensions after the Uri attack.
