Veteran Bollywood actor Govinda, 60, sustained a leg injury after accidentally shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his Juhu residence early Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 4:45 am while the actor was preparing to leave for a flight to Kolkata.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, explained that the revolver fell from a cupboard and misfired, hitting the actor in the leg. “By God’s grace, the injury was minor,” Sinha said. The actor was immediately rushed to Criticare Hospital, where the bullet was extracted. Doctors confirmed the injury was below the knee, and Govinda is now in stable condition and recovering at home.
His wife, Sunita Ahuja, flew back to Mumbai from Kolkata, while their daughter Tina stayed by his side during treatment. In a message to fans, Govinda expressed gratitude for their support, crediting his survival to the blessings of his fans, parents, and guru.
Although no formal complaint has been filed, Mumbai Police are investigating the accident, with no signs of foul play. Govinda is expected to rest and reschedule his upcoming engagements.
Known for his iconic roles in Coolie No. 1, Partner, and Hadh Kar Di Aapne, Govinda remains a beloved Bollywood figure.
