The singer behind the hit ‘Groove Mera’ recently expressed frustration, asking people to respect her privacy and “live and let live.” Addressing her peer as “aunty”—an unnecessary jab, in our view—Baig noted that her name was being used solely to drive attention and gain views.
Posting on her Instagram story, Baig shared her disappointment, saying that seeing another female artist criticize her was “really sad,” especially considering how few female artists exist in the industry. She went on to wish Khan well, encouraging followers to give her the attention she seeks so “she’ll stop hating on the other female artists we have.”
We have to agree with Baig on this one: putting down others to elevate oneself isn’t in the spirit of 2024. These sentiments could have been expressed in a more diplomatic, considerate manner without dragging others into the fray.
Both artists are talented in their own right, and now is the time for Pakistani women to uplift each other. We need to stand together and show that mutual support is key to thriving in the industry.
