Meesha Shafi’s arrest warrants have been halted by a court order.

In a case filed under the cybercrime legislation by actor-singer Ali Zafar on grounds of waging a harmful campaign against him on social media, a Sessions court on Monday postponed the execution of warrants of arrest issued against singer Meesha Shafi.

Lawyers representing the singer, who lives in Canada, said that she couldn’t attend at every hearing since she’s a citizen of the country. She pointed out that on February 19, a magistrate unjustly denied her plea for exemption from personal presence and issued bailable arrest warrants.

When it came to her arrest warrants, she urged the court to overturn a previous ruling.

According to Rai Muhammad Yasin Shaheen’s judgment, “learned trial court is prevented from using coercive measures against petitioner in the meanwhile, retaining reliance on arguments of learned counsel for petitioner and affidavit.”

Singer Meesha and model Iffat Omar, along with nine others, were all charged in September 2020 by the FIA’s special court of waging a social media campaign against Zafar.

Meesha, Iffat, Leena Ghani, Fareeha Ayub, Ali Gul Pir, Humna Raza, and Syed Faizan Raza were all named in the FIR, as well as Ali Gul Pir, Haseemuz Zaman Khan, and Humna Raza.

On Twitter, Meesha had accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment. Ali Zafar then went to the FIA Cyber Crime Wing and filed a complaint about the social media campaign against him.
