WASHINGTON, DC – Lata Mangeshkar, India’s world-renowned singer, and Bharat Ratna awardee, has died. In her honor, the National Council of Asian Indian Associations, Inc. (NCAIA) and Sikhs of America hosted a virtual event. Baljinder Singh Shammi, President of NCAIA, began the event by welcoming all attendees and introducing the event’s chief guests.
Artists Ashwin Hazarika, Anjana Bordoloi, Arundhotee Goswami, Rabin Goswami, Rama Sharma, and Swati Patwardhan Kantikar paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar with memorable songs. Rajiv Paul did an excellent job of anchoring the event. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, renowned writer, poet, community leader, and founder President of Aligarh Alumni Association, Jasdip Singh Jesse, Chairman, Sikhs of America, and Christina Poy, Administrative Director, Governor’s Commission all paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar.
Jasdip Singh Jesse described Lata Mangeshkar as an Indian nightingale whose voice brought the timeless song to Indian music. He stated that even though Lata Ji was no longer with us, her voice would continue to be heard throughout the world.

NCAIA Chairman Pawan Bezwada greeted the attendees and paid respect to the renowned singer Lata Mangeshkar. At the conclusion of the occasion, the public was invited to pay respect to Lata Didi. It should be noted that a huge number of participants from India participated in the virtual event.
