After reportedly signing an action-comedy project with acclaimed filmmakers Raj and DK, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is now exploring another ambitious venture. Moreover, the actor is said to be in discussions with producer Farhan Akhtar for a large-scale historical action drama. This Salman Khan Farhan Akhtar period drama is inspired by one of India’s most iconic figures.
According to industry sources, Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been holding regular meetings over the past month to discuss the project. Furthermore, the actor has reportedly been impressed by the film’s vision, storyline, and grand scale. As a result, he is showing strong interest in the potential collaboration.
Sources reveal that the project is being designed as a high-budget theatrical spectacle, combining action, drama, and historical storytelling. Additionally, the makers are reportedly planning to narrate the epic story across two films. This makes it one of the most ambitious projects currently in development.
If finalized, the untitled period drama could become Salman Khan’s next major film. It would follow his upcoming superhero action-comedy with Raj and DK.
Currently, Salman is occupied with the shooting of director Vamshi Paidipally’s action entertainer. He is expected to begin work on the Raj and DK project in October 2026. Moreover, the historical drama is backed by Excel Entertainment founders Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. It is likely to commence production in the summer of 2027.
Although the director of the project has not yet been revealed, sources confirm that Farhan Akhtar will be involved solely as a producer. He will not be directing the film.
With its grand scale, historical backdrop, and two-part storytelling format, the project has already generated significant buzz among Bollywood fans. It is also generating excitement among industry insiders alike.
