Timothée Chalamet recently revealed a thoughtful and cinematic birthday surprise planned by his partner, Kylie Jenner. It was one that paid tribute to his deep connection with the sci-fi classic Interstellar.
During a conversation at a CNN & Variety Town Hall alongside former co-star Matthew McConaughey, Chalamet shared that Jenner arranged a private IMAX screening of the 2014 film to celebrate his 30th birthday. Directed by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar marked a significant moment early in Chalamet’s career. In the film, he portrayed Tom, the on-screen son of McConaughey’s character.
The actor admitted he has watched the film more than 20 times, including multiple theatrical viewings during its original release. He called it one of the most meaningful projects of his life. For the surprise, Jenner organized the screening at a private IMAX theatre outside Los Angeles—without revealing the plan in advance.
Chalamet humorously recalled feeling irritated during the long drive, unaware of where they were headed on his birthday. “I was grumpy the whole way,” he said, adding that he quickly apologized once he realized the destination was an IMAX showing of Interstellar.
The couple, who have been linked since early 2023, made their red carpet debut in 2025. Jenner has since been a constant presence at Chalamet’s major appearances, including awards season events like the Golden Globes.
The heartfelt gesture highlights the couple’s growing closeness. It also underscores how Interstellar continues to hold a special place in Chalamet’s personal and professional journey.
