Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named the winner of the ‘T20I Bowling Performance of the Year’ award by ESPNcricinfo for his sensational session against India’s best batsmen in the T20 World Cup in UAE last year.
When the top three Indian batsmen Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli were sent back to the pavilion, Shaheen Shah Afridi, who had already won the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year title earlier this year, played a critical role in Pakistan’s triumph against India.
Pakistani cricket fans may have been reminded of Muhammad Amir’s stunning performance in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy final against arch-rivals England when Shaheen Shah took to the new ball. He claimed three wickets from Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan while in top form at the moment.
The bowler informed the media after earning the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award that his stint against India was a memorable one. Further, Shaheen said that this was his greatest work to date.
We should not forget that Shaheen Shah has been recognized for his outstanding work in international cricket, as seen by the many prizes he has received. The PCB’s Impactful Performance of the Year 2021 and the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year of 2021 were awarded to the youthful bowler. Additionally, in 2021 he was part of the ICC Men’s Test and ICC Men’s T20I Teams of the Year.
