Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is reportedly in advanced discussions with acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Mahesh Narayanan for a period thriller set between the 1970s and 1990s. Known for his compelling narratives, Mahesh has been in multiple meetings with Salman over the last few weeks, the latest taking place recently in Mumbai.
While Salman is currently preparing for Galwan, an intense war-drama helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, he is simultaneously lining up future projects. A trusted source reveals, “Salman and Mahesh have brainstormed several ideas, and one of them — a gripping period action-thriller — has received a green light from Salman. Mahesh will now return with a full-fledged script narration.”
The proposed film is said to be set in a world that Salman hasn’t explored before, adding a fresh twist to his filmography. The insider added, “This project could see Salman stepping out of his comfort zone. Whether it’s Galwan or Mahesh’s film, he’s keen to explore challenging new genres.”
Discussions are in the final stages, and a decision is expected by the end of 2025. If the collaboration materializes, production is likely to begin in 2026, after both Salman and Mahesh complete their respective ongoing commitments.
Meanwhile, Salman is also reportedly in talks with Kabir Khan. The duo, known for their blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan, is considering multiple ideas — ranging from a stylish action thriller to a high-intensity drama, and even a potential Bajrangi sequel.
For now, all eyes are on the promising collaboration between Salman Khan and Mahesh Narayanan, which could mark a new cinematic chapter in Salman’s career.
