As Sahir Lodhi becomes the latest subject of viral TikTok imitations, actress Mehwish Hayat has stepped forward to address the growing wave of online trolling against him. With clips mimicking Lodhi’s signature hosting style circulating widely — including one shared by Yasir Nawaz — the trend, dubbed the “Sahir Lodhi Trend,” has taken social media by storm.
However, not everyone finds the humor harmless. Mehwish Hayat took to her social platforms to stand up for Lodhi, calling for empathy over mockery. In a heartfelt message, she wrote,
“It’s unfair how people ridicule him, forgetting that he’s a human being with emotions — just like the rest of us.”
Hayat praised Lodhi’s dedication and resilience in the entertainment industry, adding,
“He has worked tirelessly, shown up with passion, and made a name for himself in a highly competitive field.”
Stressing the importance of respect despite personal differences, she emphasized,
“You may not agree with someone’s choices, but basic decency and kindness should always be in style.”
The Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient concluded her message with a powerful reminder:
“Let’s normalise compassion, especially for those who keep moving forward no matter how harsh the world gets.”
Sahir Lodhi, no stranger to criticism, has often been trolled for his resemblance to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, his expressive hosting style, and his 2017 film Raasta, which faced harsh reviews.
