Pakistani actor Mawra Hocane is championing women’s empowerment, highlighting the importance of financial independence for young girls. In a recent Instagram video, the Sanam Teri Kasam star shared how her parents instilled a strong work ethic in her and sister Urwa from an early age.
“I was taught very young that financial independence is essential for girls,” Mawra said. “As school-going children, our mother encouraged us to do theatre, which helped us develop discipline and understand the value of hard work.”
The actor emphasized that success requires effort and sacrifice. “You can compromise on a little sleep, but the hustle is important. That’s something our parents instilled in us,” she reflected.
Sharing an empowering message with her followers, Mawra encouraged young women to strive for financial autonomy. “No matter how rich your family, husband, or in-laws may be, the confidence you gain from earning your own money is unmatched,” she said.
The newly-wed star, who tied the knot with fellow actor Ameer Gilani in February, often speaks about balancing personal and professional growth. The couple, who previously worked together in drama serials Sabaat and Neem, shared heartfelt wedding photos with the hashtag #MawraAmeerHogayi.
Beyond acting, Mawra is also an entrepreneur. In 2022, she and sister Urwa launched their fashion brand WHOCAN—a creative nod to their surname. The brand features trendy western wear, festive ensembles, and chic accessories, showcasing the sisters’ entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to female empowerment.
