As the first trans assistant commissioner, Muneeb Butt is “excited” to play the role in an upcoming serial.

The actor can't wait to work with Saba Qamar to break down barriers of prejudice in the film.

And we’re just as psyched as he is about the fact that Muneeb Butt has just announced the most singular role of his entire show business career. The star of Qalandar recently said that he and Saba Qamar will be in a movie together in which he will play the first trans assistant commissioner.

In 2022, trans actor Alina Khan’s portrayal of a transgender character in Joyland drew criticism; however, it’s encouraging to see more productions in 2023 featuring transgender characters or themes. Butt wanted to change people’s minds, so he posted photos from the set of his next untitled project on Instagram on Sunday.

As he put it in the caption, “I am very excited to announce that I am playing the unique character of the first trans assistant commissioner in my upcoming project, something that breaks certain stereotypes in our society.”

We are just as thrilled as Muneeb Butt is about the announcement of the most unusual role of his acting career. The Qalandar star recently shared that he will be co-starring with Saba Qamar in a film in which he plays the role of the first trans assistant commissioner.

Alina Khan’s portrayal of a transgender character in Joyland in 2022 drew criticism, so it’s encouraging to see more productions in 2023 that include transgender characters or themes (if not actors). Butt, eager to shatter preconceptions, posted photos from the set of his upcoming, untitled project to Instagram on Sunday.

“I am very excited to announce that I am playing the unique character of the first trans assistant commissioner in my upcoming project, something that breaks certain stereotypes in our society,” he wrote as the caption.

Nothing has been revealed about the plot, the title, the release date, or the remaining cast members.

Qamar is currently working on a new and exciting endeavor at the office. This is the dream role for the actor, who has always wanted to portray a politician on screen. Qamar’s upcoming film Mandi will feature the actress in the role of Uzma, a political leader.
