Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif launched the latest song from their upcoming film Bharat, titled Zinda, at a grand event in Mumbai on Friday. The song’s video shows the journey of a common Indian man and his country over 60 years.

The song begins by showing Salman as an old man, still strong enough to beat up baddies in the streets. It is followed by a flashback to August 14, 1947 when his father was left behind in Pakistan as they left the country during Partition. The song shows more scenes from the film, how he once worked at the circus, fell in love with his supervisor, escaped a collapsed mine and saved his friends from a storm.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar has penned and composed the song while Vishal Dadlani has sung the number. Sharing the song, Salman wrote on Twitter, “Come witness an extraordinary Journey of an ordinary Man #ZindaSong OUT NOW.”

It was originally a poem which I had written while scripting the film. The core message of the film is that belief and conviction keep you alive. It is an uplifting track and infuses him (Salman) with the strength of purpose.”

Asked about Salman’s reaction to his newly-found talent, Zafar added, “Bhai doesn’t know yet, we don’t share these small details, he knows I keep doing something or the other. But this time I think he will be surprised. Of course, he’ll pull my leg, saying, ‘So now, you’ve starting writing songs too, now you will ask for an extra cheque.’ That’s the kind of bond we share.”.

An official remake of Korean drama An Ode to my Father, Bharat also stars Jackie Shroff, Sunil Grover, Disha Patani, Tabu and Nora Fatehi. It is slated for release on Eid 2019, June 5.

Talking about his third collaboration with Salman (Sultan and Tiger Zinda Hai) Zafar earlier said, “With Tiger Zinda Hai and Sultan behind me, I’m more nervous for my next one because I know the expectations and anticipations will be really, really high. It is a very different film from Tiger and Sultan. We are trying to do something new with it.”

Bharat is co-produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Salman Khan Films and Reel Life Production Pvt. Ltd.
