After going through a rough patch caused by a sexting controversy, British boxer Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom have reconciled, he said. According to the 36-year-old athlete, their relationship is as strong as ever.

As Khan candidly explained to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary on This Morning, “I’m not a spring chicken,” he was referring to his age. Since I stopped working out two years ago, my wife has recently begun nagging me, “You’ve started to get a dad’s body; you need to start working out.” When pressed for more detail, he added, “I used to see a gym and go in; now I see a gym and walk past it.”

Khan’s confession follows the testing of his connection with Makhdoom over the past three weeks. Earlier this month, former BBC broadcaster Suzi Mann said that the boxer had made unwanted sexual attempts toward her after they met at an event in 2016. Mann said she was uneasy about Amir’s communications but decided to act professionally and ignore his inappropriate behavior.

The claims against Khan came after rumors surfaced of a sexting incident involving him and a model, which led to his separation from his wife. These parents of three appear to have patched things up and are back together after being married for ten years.

Khan also spoke about the dramatic difference from a tough training program to a more relaxing routine that he encountered after leaving boxing behind. On the Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, he explained, “You’re always in training camp every day or you’re going for a run; you’re always burning calories.”
