Former US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran, urging Tehran to negotiate a nuclear agreement or risk facing a significantly harsher military response from the United States.
In a social media post on Wednesday, Trump called on Iran to “come to the table” and agree to what he described as a fair and balanced deal that would prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons. He stressed that time was running out and emphasized the urgency of immediate negotiations.
“Hopefully Iran will quickly come to the table and negotiate a fair and equitable deal — no nuclear weapons — one that is good for all parties,” Trump wrote, adding that the situation had reached a critical point.
Trump also referenced previous tensions, noting that his last warning to Iran had been followed by a US military strike in June. He cautioned that any future action would be “far worse,” urging Iran not to repeat past confrontations.
Reiterating his tough stance, Trump said a US naval armada was moving toward Iran. According to US officials, a naval force led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has already arrived in the Middle East, escalating regional military pressure.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that he has not been in recent contact with US special envoy Steve Witkoff, nor has Iran requested new negotiations, according to Iranian state media.
Amid rising tensions, Türkiye has urged both Washington and Tehran to resume nuclear talks immediately, calling for diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation in the region.
