Internet users in the United States are going crazy over Shahzaman Fateh Ali Khan, the son of the legendary Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Qawwali enthusiasts were amazed by the similarities between his voice and that of his famed great uncle, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, after seeing a video of his latest performance.

A video of Shahzaman performing an amazing cover of Nusrat’s “Kinna Sohna Tenu Rab Ne Banaya” is making the rounds on Twitter. Social media users were quick to make analogies. Maybe it’s just me, but I hear a young Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s son. Please welcome Shahzaman Fateh Ali Khan. “It’s an amazing time to be alive,” one user exclaimed.

Fans of Shahzaman’s performance flooded the microblogging site with positive feedback. A descendant of the great Mujahideen leader, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Someone commented, “Oh my God, does he not sound like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan?” He sounds a lot like Nusrat,” said another, “but by that time, Nusrat and Rahat had already become far more accomplished qawwals. There is no one better than Nusrat.

Shahzaman’s fame has spread beyond Pakistan and the United States to India. The party for Anant Ambani’s 28th birthday took place in Dubai last April, and the young qawwal reportedly got the privilege of performing there.

Rahat and Shahzaman, father and son, frequently work and perform together. Shahzaman has publicly thanked his father for his support throughout his musical career. He gushed about his dad in an Instagram post, saying, “What a terrific dad he is! Allows me to sit in his place while he switches to mine. Nusrat has permanently altered the musical landscape. Songs like “Dulhe Ka Sehra” from the film “Dhadkan,” starring Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar, and Shilpa Shetty, are among his best-known works. Dum Mast, Qalander Mast, and Jhule Jhule Laal are only two of the classics that the Qawwali master has brought to life. Rahat, Nusrat’s nephew, also found success in Bollywood before Pakistani singers were banned from working in India in 2016.

Numerous Bollywood singles featured Rahat’s soulful voice, and these include Sajdaa, Naina, Main Jahaan Rahoon, O Re Piya, and many more. The film Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, included his final Bollywood song, Tere Bin. In addition to performing on various seasons of Coke Studio, Rahat has performed numerous original soundtracks for Pakistani television series.
