Popular Pakistani actor Hania Aamir has officially been named the National Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women Pakistan. This marks a major milestone in her career. Known for her vibrant personality and strong digital influence, Hania will now use her platform to promote gender equality. She will also speak out against discrimination and violence faced by women and girls.
The UN Women Pakistan office announced the news on Instagram, stating, “As a renowned actor and advocate, Hania Aamir will raise awareness, inspire action, and amplify the voices of women and girls across Pakistan. Together, we strive for a future where every woman can live free from violence and inequality.”
With this appointment, Hania joins an esteemed group of goodwill ambassadors, including Muniba Mazari, Farhan Akhtar, and Sania Mirza. Other notable UN ambassadors from Pakistan include Fawad Khan (UNDP), Mahira Khan (UNHCR), Shehzad Roy (UNODC), and Saba Qamar (UNICEF).
Hania is the second Pakistani woman to be honored as a UN Women ambassador after Muniba Mazari in 2015.
