A brand-new statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) has been unveiled at London’s famous Leicester Square, celebrating the film’s 30th anniversary. The bronze sculpture now stands proudly as part of Leicester Square’s popular Scenes in the Square trail, alongside global film icons.

During the unveiling, Kajol told the BBC that the moment felt extra special because her family was with her. “What I’ll treasure most is that all four of us stood there together. It was just too cute!” she said.
Shah Rukh Khan echoed her emotions, describing his unbreakable bond with the film. “DDLJ and me and Kajol are like a bad habit—you just can’t get rid of us,” he joked. Reflecting on the milestone, he added, “I can’t take all the credit. Adi and the entire team created something incredible.”
He also commented on the atmosphere during the ceremony. “Standing in the rain, there’s this overwhelming sense of gratitude.
Kajol highlighted a touching coincidence: “Someone pointed out that Shah Rukh’s introduction scene in DDLJ was in the rain, and here we are unveiling the statue in the rain.
Kajol laughed, adding, “None of it was planned! It just happened.” She also shared how surreal the moment felt: “It hasn’t sunk in yet—I’m a little awestruck. I need to go back and look at the statue properly with my specs on!”
