Border 2 Early Box Office Trends: Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh Film Targets ₹28 Crore Opening Day

The much-anticipated Border 2, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, has opened to solid early box office numbers. If you’re following the Border 2 box office collection, as per initial trends, the film is expected to collect around ₹27–28 crore nett on Day 1 at the Indian box office. There is also a chance of slight upward movement once final morning figures are locked. Besides, the Border 2 box office collection is being closely monitored by both critics and fans alike.

Advance booking trends earlier hinted at a potential ₹30–35 crore opening. However, stronger-than-usual performance at national cinema chains inflated expectations, while overall momentum across other circuits remained more balanced. Moreover, the Border 2 box office collection could see further growth if positive word-of-mouth continues.

Strong performance in North Indian circuits

Border 2 has performed best in Delhi-UP, East Punjab, Rajasthan, and Bihar, regions that have traditionally been strong markets for Sunny Deol films. Business in these circuits has come in at an impressive ₹40–45 crore day ratio level. West Bengal also exceeded expectations, aided by a holiday boost. In addition, updates about the Border 2 box office collection in these regions are generating a lot of buzz.

On the other hand, Mumbai and southern circuits recorded relatively lower numbers, a trend commonly seen with Deol-led films. Gujarat, which delivered exceptional business for Gadar 2, remained comparatively muted this time. However, it could show growth over the weekend based on early audience feedback.

East Punjab sees revival, Diljit Dosanjh adds value

Notably, East Punjab has shown a marked improvement compared to Gadar 2, which underperformed in the region due to weaker collections from Punjab state. This time, local holidays and the presence of Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh have helped boost numbers. The Punjab circuit is expected to cross ₹3.5–3.75 crore nett, slightly below Gadar 2 but still a strong showing.

Expectations vs reality

While pre-release expectations were higher, the opening remains healthy when viewed in context. Sunny Deol’s resurgence with Gadar 2 had reset benchmarks unexpectedly, leading to inflated expectations for Border 2. Without the precedent of Gadar 2, these opening figures would have been seen as a major positive surprise. Overall, the Border 2 box office collection highlights a robust start despite sky-high predictions.

Weekend outlook and Republic Day boost

Looking ahead, Border 2 is expected to witness strong growth over the weekend, followed by a massive push on Republic Day. This aligns perfectly with the film’s patriotic theme. The extended four-day weekend is projected to cross ₹125 crore nett, with the potential to reach ₹150 crore nett if key markets like Mumbai gain momentum.

If these trends hold, Border 2 is well on track to emerge as a box office hit, with upside potential in the coming days.
