Former US President Donald Trump has once again expressed strong appreciation for Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace, saying he holds “great respect” for the country and its continued diplomatic efforts. Recently, in the international arena, Trump praises Pakistan peace efforts as an important contribution to stability in the region.
In a recent interview, Trump commended Islamabad for actively supporting dialogue and conflict resolution, describing Pakistan’s involvement as “terrific” and emphasizing that the country remains committed to facilitating peace.
He also addressed tensions involving Iran, stating that Tehran has the option to initiate talks with the United States if it seeks to end ongoing conflict. Trump noted that communication channels remain open, adding that Iran can reach out directly instead of arranging lengthy diplomatic travel.
Highlighting key conditions for any potential agreement, Trump reiterated that Iran must not pursue nuclear weapons, calling it a fundamental requirement for negotiations.
Meanwhile, a planned visit by US envoys, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Pakistan was recently cancelled, impacting ongoing diplomatic momentum. The development came shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi concluded meetings in Islamabad with Pakistani officials.
This is not the first time Trump has acknowledged Pakistan’s diplomatic role. He previously praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir for their efforts in encouraging dialogue and reducing regional tensions.
Trump reiterated that Pakistan’s leadership is keen to see progress in peace negotiations, reinforcing the country’s position as a key player in diplomatic efforts within the region.
