Tere Naam Re-Release Box Office: Salman Khan’s Cult Classic Earns Rs 1.25 Crore in First Week

The re-release of Tere Naam has completed its first week in cinemas with a total collection of around Rs 1.25 crore nett at the Indian box office. While the numbers are decent for a film that originally released more than two decades ago, expectations were significantly higher given the movie’s enduring popularity among fans.

Week 1 Performance at the Box Office

On its seventh day, Tere Naam added approximately Rs 10 lakh, showing a slight drop from the previous day. Despite the modest decline, the film managed to close its opening week with Rs 1.25 crore in earnings.

Considering the movie’s status as a cult romantic drama starring Salman Khan, the overall performance is respectable. However, industry expectations were much higher, especially since audiences had been demanding its theatrical return for years.

Comparison With Other Bollywood Re-Releases

When compared to other classic Bollywood re-releases, the box office numbers of Tere Naam remain slightly lower.

For instance:

  • Kal Ho Naa Ho, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan, collected about Rs 2.10 crore in its opening week during its re-release.
  • Karan Arjun earned nearly Rs 1.60 crore when it returned to cinemas in 2025.
  • Veer-Zaara recorded around Rs 1.55 crore in its opening week.
  • Andaz Apna Apna generated roughly Rs 1.50 crore in its first week after re-release.

Given the strong fan following of Salman Khan, many analysts expected the film to outperform these titles.

Why the Film’s Collections May Have Been Affected

One of the key factors behind the relatively lower turnout could be the timing of the release. The film returned to theatres during the holy month of Ramadan, a period when many moviegoers, especially among Salman Khan’s core fan base, tend to visit cinemas less frequently.

What Lies Ahead for the Film

Despite the slow start, Tere Naam continues to maintain a steady run at the box office. The film could see a boost during its second weekend if audience interest increases.

Additionally, the movie currently enjoys a relatively clear run at theatres until the release of Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which may help it sustain collections in the coming days.

Meanwhile, another Salman Khan classic, Andaz Apna Apna—also starring Aamir Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Raveena Tandon—has also returned to theatres this weekend, and its box office performance will be closely watched.
