Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, 89, is currently under medical observation at Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, where he is receiving specialized care. Reports earlier claimed the legendary star had been placed on ventilator support. This led to an outpouring of concern from fans and colleagues across the film industry.
His wife, Hema Malini, took to X (formerly Twitter) to update fans on his condition and express gratitude for their prayers. “I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him,” she wrote. “I request you all to pray for his speedy recovery.”
Family members, including Sunny Deol and Tanya Deol, were spotted at the hospital earlier in the day. Karan and Rajveer Deol were also photographed by paparazzi during their visit. According to IANS, Dharmendra is being closely monitored by a team of top medical experts. Although the reason for his hospitalization hasn’t been officially disclosed, initial reports suggest it may have been for a routine health check-up.
Born on December 8, 1935, Dharmendra will celebrate his 90th birthday next month — a milestone eagerly awaited by fans. Earlier this year, he appeared alongside Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024). This reminded audiences of his timeless charm and versatility after over six decades in cinema.
The legendary actor will next be seen in Sriram Raghavan’s war drama Ikkis, based on the life of Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film features Agastya Nanda, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Simar Bhatia. It is slated for a December 2025 release, potentially coinciding with Dharmendra’s milestone birthday.
