As Anil Kapoor reveals, Danny Boyle offered him, Slumdog Millionaire, after seeing Taal.

In honor of Taal’s 23rd anniversary, Anil posted photos from the set with Aishwarya, Akshaye, and Subhash Ghai on Saturday. In addition, he disclosed that Govinda had been offered the part of Vikrant Kapoor in the film before he ultimately turned it down. Anil thanked fate for sending him Taal after he revealed that the language skill facilitated his casting in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire. Kapoor claimed that the director of Slumdog Millionaire saw him in Taal and offered him the role.

Anil wrote in a note he shared, “Taal has been around for 23 years now! That I got to play a small role in such a groundbreaking film is something I will always cherish. Despite the fact that the part had originally been offered to Govinda, I feel as though it was meant to be played by me. Since Danny Boyle saw me in Taal and cast me in Slumdog Millionaire because of my performance in that film, I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have received the love and support of the phenomenally talented showman @subhashghai1 Saab and to have worked on four hugely successful milestone films with him.”

If you remember correctly, Anil Kapoor co-starred with Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto in the Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The movie featured him in his role as the show’s host. In February of 2009, the film took home multiple Oscars, including Best Picture.
