WASHINGTON – The NCAIA (National Council of Asian Indian Association) and Sikhs of America hosted a warm farewell dinner for Mr. Anurag Kumar, an Indian diplomat, who has served at the Embassy of India, Washington DC as Minister Community Affairs for three-and-a-half years.
The farewell dinner was held at the Commonwealth Indian Restaurant in Rockville, Maryland, and was attended by leaders of the Indian community from DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Gurcharan Singh, Dr. Suresh Gupta, Devang Shah, Anjana Bordoloi, Keerthi Swamy, Rama Sharma, Nagendra Madhavaram, Alpana Barua, Sajid Tarar, Lucky Singh, Rupi Suri, and Harbir Batra attended the affair.
On behalf of the Indian Embassy, Mr. Anurag Kumar, Minister Community Affairs was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Akanksha Kumar, Dr. Jaideep Nair, Minister (Consular Services), Shachi Ghildyal, Counsellor, and Vinayak Chavan, First Secretary (CPV) The guests were welcomed by Baljinder Shammi Singh, President of NCAIA, Pawan Bezwada, Chairman of NCAIA and Jasdeep Singh Jesse, Chairman, Sikhs of America.
On the occasion, several speakers praised that Mr. Anurag Kumar has maintained a very warm relationship with the Indian community during his tenure. Mr. Baljinder Singh said that the community has fond memories of the events during his tenure and anytime they needed Mr. Anurag Kumar, for any community issues, he has always made time for them.
Jasdip Singh Jesse thanked him for his dedication and support for the community. Pavan Bezwada said that the Indian community will always remember his services. Dr. Suresh K. Gupta wished him the best and success in his future.
