hile it was recently reported that Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji are getting back together for Bunty Aur Babli Again, reports say another pair of young actors will be cast in the film. Bunty Aur Babli Again, which will mark the reunion of Abhishek and Rani after a gap of nearly 12 years, will be directed by Shaad Ali who had also directed the first film in 2005.
There are several news reports stating that the set for film will be built in mumbai in the first week of June and once it’s ready the cast will start shooting. A source close to the development told an entertainment portal, “Unlike Bunty Aur Babli, the second installment will not have just Rani and AB Junior. There will be two pairs of actors with a jodi from the younger generation of actors joining the two main leads from the original. The story has been written in a way which requires two leading pairs. It needs to be seen if Amitabh Bachchan also reprises his role in the sequel. But as of now, the makers are currently in process of looking the Gen-Y actors for the film.”
Although the production house has not revealed anything about the film, sources close to the development say the project is very much in the making.Earlier, a source close to the development said, “The filmmakers have roped in the original cast and they will start shooting for the film from next month.”
The duo was last seen on Laga Chunari Mein Daag which released in 2007. The film couldn’t make a mark on the box office. Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji were rumoured to be in relationship after Bunty Aur Babli but things took a sour turn.
On the work front, Rani Mukerji has wrapped up Rajasthan schedule of Mardaani 2 and will start shooting in Mumbai. It is the sequel to the 2014 film Mardaani. Rani Mukerji will be reprising the role of Mumbai Police cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in the film. Abhishek Bachchan will next be seen playing the titular role in Sanjay leela Bhansali’s film based on the life of poet Sahir Ludhianvi. It is rumoured that Deepika Padukone will play his love interest Amrita Pritam in the film.
Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan’s Bunty Aur Babli was not only a hit film but also one that was immensely loved by viewers of all age groups. 14 years later, the makers have planned a sequel and it’s tentatively titled Bunty Aur Babli Again. Shaad Ali will be returning to helm the second part too.
