Priyanka Chopra Shares Big Update on SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi: “Filming for 14 Months, More Still to Go”

Priyanka Chopra is officially gearing up for her long-awaited return to Indian cinema with SS Rajamouli’s ambitious action-adventure film Varanasi. The global star, who will be seen alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, recently revealed a major update about the film’s progress.

After staying away from Hindi cinema for nearly seven years, Priyanka is making a grand comeback with the pan-India spectacle. During her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress opened up about the scale of the project and how much work still lies ahead.

Priyanka Chopra on the long filming schedule of Varanasi

Expressing her excitement, Priyanka spoke highly of director SS Rajamouli, calling him one of India’s most gifted filmmakers. She shared that being part of the film has been an exhilarating experience and described the project as nothing short of a cinematic adventure.

Revealing details about the shoot timeline, Priyanka said the team has already been filming for 14 months and will continue shooting for another six months. “That makes it nearly 20 months of filming. It’s a case of go big or go home,” she remarked, highlighting the massive scale of the production.

Balancing Hollywood and Indian cinema

Despite her busy Hollywood commitments, Priyanka has been frequently travelling to India, especially Hyderabad, to stay on schedule with Varanasi. While promoting her recently released OTT film The Bluff, the actress continued juggling both industries with ease. Now that her Hollywood project is out, she is expected to fully focus on completing the remaining portions of the Indian film.

About Varanasi

Backed by Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business, Varanasi is envisioned as a large-scale action-adventure drama. The film has already generated significant buzz, especially after Priyanka Chopra’s first-look poster went viral. The movie is currently slated for a theatrical release on April 7, 2027.

Priyanka Chopra’s return, combined with SS Rajamouli’s direction and a powerful ensemble cast, has made Varanasi one of the most anticipated Indian films in recent years.
