Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor’s much-awaited Telugu film Peddi has made a powerful start at the Indian box office. The film collected approximately Rs. 81.75 crore on its opening day. This includes around Rs. 23 crore from Wednesday night preview shows. In this article, we take a closer look at the Peddi Box Office Collection. We also explore what has contributed to its impressive earnings.
The majority of the film’s earnings came from the Telugu-speaking regions. In these areas, Peddi generated an impressive Rs. 66.50 crore. This marks the fourth-biggest opening day in Telugu cinema history. It surpasses Devara and trails only behind blockbuster titles such as Pushpa 2, RRR, and They Call Him OG.
Apart from its dominance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the film also performed exceptionally well in Karnataka, earning nearly Rs. 9 crore, including preview collections. The Telugu version witnessed encouraging support in Tamil Nadu and North India as well.
The Hindi-dubbed version contributed approximately Rs. 3 crore nett on its first day. While the figure may not be massive, it is considered a respectable result. This is because Peddi is a standalone South Indian film rather than a franchise sequel.
Peddi‘s successful opening comes as a major boost for the Telugu film industry. This industry has been experiencing a shortage of big releases and box office successes. The film itself faced several production and release delays before finally arriving in cinemas this week.
Early audience reactions have largely been positive, creating strong momentum for the film heading into the weekend. Although collections are expected to dip after the loaded opening day, favorable word-of-mouth could help Peddi maintain solid growth over the coming days. As a result, the film may deliver an impressive opening weekend at the box office.
