After her film What’s Love Got to Do with It? won big at the UK’s National Film Awards, writer and producer Jemima Goldsmith took to Twitter to share her joy. The legendary Shekhar Kapur’s romantic comedy won four awards, further solidifying its status as a masterpiece of the big screen.
Twitter user Jemima once said, “No one likes a show-off. But last night we got four Oscars for our film, and that made me so pleased. Jemima highlighted the film’s Best Screenplay, Best British Film, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actor wins when listing the film’s many accolades. The final words of Jemima’s tweet were, “Thank you, and well done to the entire team.”

The critically acclaimed film has received widespread appreciation. Sajal Aly, Shazad Latif, Shabana Azmi, and Emma Thompson are only a few of the stars who feature in it. Guest star Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a well-known music maestro. Nine different categories had nominated the picture.
Jemima was nominated for Best Screenplay because of her skill as a storyteller. But she also excelled as a producer. What’s Love Got to Do with It? Best Director for Shekhar, Best Screenplay for Jemima, and Best Actress for Lily James.
Best Independent Film, Best Comedy, and Best Producer nods went to Nicky Kentish Barnes, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jemima, with Asim Chaudhry nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Emma Thompson nominated for Best Supporting Actress.
These nominees were announced in May for the 9th annual National Film Awards, hosted by the respected National Film Academy of the United Kingdom. After the announcement of the nominees, Shekhar received a flood of well-wishes on various social media sites. Many famous people have sent their best wishes to Shekhar, including the actor Manoj Bajpayee, who worked with him on the 1994 hit film Bandit Queen.
