Saladin: The Conqueror of Jerusalem, a pioneering partnership between Pakistan and Turkey, has a new trailer, and it depicts a religious fight over the holy city of Jerusalem.

Adnan Siddiqui released the trailer on Instagram, where he also spoke about the value of looking back on the past every so often. A tribute to the famed Muslim emperor and founder of the Ayyubid dynasty, on whom the Turkish series is based, was included in the actor’s first production note.

It’s crucial to look back on the past every once in a while. And doing what you know is right in the face of many doubters and opposition is, too,” Siddiqui added. The mythical warrior Selahaddin Eyubbi provides inspiring examples of bravery, perseverance, justice, and kindness. On November 13, the golden letters spelling out the king’s name will come to life on your TV screen. Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peek,” he said.

The teaser begins with the query, “What is Jerusalem, his excellency?” before showing glimpses of a struggle building over the holy territory, which is eerily similar to the conflict over Jerusalem even today. It continues to depict a hero facing off against a horde of adversaries. A woman cries, “The war is beginning!” and a man responds, “Jerusalem is a sacrifice.” Warriors on horseback ride over the ocean, shooting arrows at each other and slaughtering their enemies. In a parallel time frame, bishops can be seen and heard waving crosses and calling for reform. Their leader has declared, “Jerusalem will be ours, God willing.”

The obligations that life has bestowed upon you cannot be avoided. A man says to another, “This will be a great secret, Eyyub,” while a mother with a baby gives him the death gaze. A man says, “I cannot just sit and do nothing when I see brutality,” before enlisting in the military and going to battle. A voice may be heard stating, “Jerusalem means Selahuddin for me too.” May all Muslim intellectuals find unity under your wing,” is the final prayer in the video. Put your weapon to use and vanquish everyone who would oppress you. To you, Jerusalem!

Last week, producers Uur Güneş, Adnan Siddiqui, and others unveiled the eagerly awaited trailer for the upcoming historical series, which will focus on Eyyubi’s capture of Jerusalem during the Crusades.

Veteran Pakistani actors Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui were rumored to have collaborated on this epic film with doctors Kashif Ansari, Ahmet Faruk Bakacak, and Junaid Ali Shah. Siddiqui posted the preview on Instagram along with a moving message: “Witness the great narrative of Selahaddin Eyyubi, a genuine warrior king. The era depicted in our upcoming period piece was one of unparalleled bravery and nobility. Be ready to be astounded by the grandeur of history as it unfolds. The caption also thanked the hardworking crew, which included Shah, Ansari, Saeed, and the organizations Ansari-Shah Films and Akli Films, for making the long-awaited historical production a reality.

Turkish actor Uur Güneş, who made his name as Tugtekin Bey in TRT’s other popular historical series, Diriliş: Erturul, plays the title role of Sultan Selahaddin Eyyubi. The historic city of Damascus was recreated on a 200-acre set for the film Selahaddin Eyyubi. Mosques, crowded bazaars, opulent palaces, and traditional dwellings were all faithfully recreated on this impressive set.
