Breast cancer is reported to be rapidly increasing in young girls in Pakistan and now a large number of young women in the country are at the risk of this disease. This was warned by Dr Arifa Manzoor, from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, while addressing a seminar at the Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Medical Center on Wednesday.
Talking about ‘Breast Cancer and Obesity’, she said that women between the 20 to 40-years-of-age should regularly visit doctors for clinical breast examination while they should undergo a mammogram after every three years.
She also dilated on the treatment options available for breast cancer patients and elaborated the surgical options for removing a breast tumour and the role of chemotherapy and radiation in eradicating cancerous cells.
