Priyanka Chopra Says She Never Wanted to Leave Bollywood, Felt ‘Pushed’ by Limited Opportunities

Priyanka Chopra has opened up about her much-discussed transition from Bollywood to international projects. She clarified that her Priyanka Chopra Bollywood exit was never part of her original plan. The global star revealed that professional limitations in the Indian film industry ultimately nudged her toward seeking more creatively fulfilling opportunities abroad.

Speaking candidly about her journey, Priyanka shared that while she cherished her years in Bollywood, she often felt constrained by the roles and prospects being offered. “I don’t think I ever wanted to leave Bollywood,” she explained, adding that she was gradually “pushed” to explore work that felt more exciting and challenging as an artist. This eventually brought about her exit from Bollywood. It also started the Priyanka Chopra Hollywood chapter.

The actress said her move to the West was driven by a desire to grow creatively rather than abandon Indian cinema. That search for stimulating roles eventually led her to English-language projects in the US. This ties back to the circumstances surrounding Priyanka Chopra’s Bollywood exit and her pursuit of international opportunities. It also marked the beginning of a new chapter in her career.

Despite building a strong presence internationally, Priyanka continues to balance her work between India and the US. She is currently juggling promotions for her latest project The Bluff. At the same time, she is also working on an upcoming Indian film directed by SS Rajamouli. Reflecting on this dual life, she shared that she enjoys moving between both industries and cultures. Her career demonstrates how Chopra navigates Bollywood exit and embraces global projects.

“I would hate to have to choose between the two,” she said, expressing excitement about returning to Indian cinema while continuing her global journey. Priyanka added that having the freedom to work across borders has been empowering at this stage of her career. This situation illustrates her unique Bollywood exit story.

The actress moved to the US over a decade ago, beginning her international breakthrough with the television series Quantico. Since then, she has maintained professional bases in both India and Los Angeles. Following her marriage to Nick Jonas, Priyanka now lives in California with their daughter, Malti Marie. It is clear her journey, including Priyanka Chopra’s famous Bollywood exit, allowed her to remain closely connected to her roots in Indian cinema.
