This interview might help to guys who are really looking forward to becoming a model.

What is the best and worst part about being a Model?

The best part – Traveling, meeting awesome people who teach you and inspire you every day. Modeling has helped me open my eyes to other cultures of the world. I would’ve never been able to see the things I’ve seen if I wasn’t a model, in an industry like this, the creative visions and exciting ideas have no limits and there are no boundaries when it comes to creating something you love. Every day I feel beyond lucky to live in a world where I’m constantly inspired.

The worst part- You can no longer eat your favorite Foods like Chole Bhature and ice cream. (Ha-ha)

If anyone wants to be a model in India, how he or she can get that started?

Modeling is no longer the way it used to be 8 yrs back, in fact, the time has changed a lot after coming of social media sites and apps such as Instagram and Facebook. The majority requires to work on your looks and a little grooming. It is also very important to be in shape if you want to be a model. Modeling literally has a lot of branches these days such as fashion, fitness, and tv. So initially it requires you to have a portfolio shot by a good photographer and start emailing them to good agencies in your city. You can also create an attractive page on Instagram that shall also help you to get good work.

How did Karan Oberoi managed to do fitness and fashion modeling as they both seem to be different branches?

When I started back in 2011 the tags like fitness and fashion did not exist, it is just that when a man is little at the broader side and muscular, he can be called as a fitness model whereas in the fashion they don’t prefer guys who are very muscular and big in the frame. I started as a fashion model, and then fitness was something I was really intrigued about, so I started getting offers for fitness-related products and as soon as I got featured on Men’s Health and other fitness magazines I got into fitness modeling too.

What is the common mistake guys do, when they get into modeling?

They emphasize more on physique than on personality. Guys need to work on their style, looks, how they carry their selves and most importantly skin that includes body and face. Majority of men get into modeling with great physique but forget to care for a skincare regimen.

Where do you see Karan “KO” Oberoi after 5 years from now?

I really don’t know right now I am branded as a fashion and fitness model. I want to be an actor but haven’t got a role yet that justifies my personality or talent. I believe in living in present and giving my very best in whatever opportunities I have got so far, I really can’t say where I see my self but definitely let’s hope for the best. Whatever is coming in 5 years, it should be good enough because we all need to be optimistic and this is how life works.

What is your style quotient?

I like being Macho that is little rugged, leather jackets, boots, torn jeans but at the same time neat and clean look. What I mean by clean look is nicely gelled hair with wax or wet look and well-trimmed beard that shall give you macho and groomed look at the same time.

Do you think that modeling can be a full-time career?

Yes, I definitely believe in that. If you are well-groomed, have a great personality, know how to talk, build relationships, you can never go out of work. Whatever your field you might be in, there is always a little more to achieve, a little more to learn and a little more to grow. So, as long as you believe in yourself, modeling can go on till you want to retire.

3 tips that always help you up to your modeling game?

Firstly, always aim to be constant with your physique. One month you have 6 abs and 3 months later you see flaws, that doesn’t work. One has to remain in the game throughout, always balance out your energy, stay focused and enjoy your life at the same time. If you are a foodie, go eat but at the same time work out harder. Secondly, always be in touch with the trend. One should always be open to accepting changes, you can’t be stuck on a fashion trend. Times have moved, Salman Bhai’s Tere Naam look was epic but now it’s ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’ look that is ruling.

Thirdly, having a never give up attitude. If you believe you can, you should. Always strive harder, raise your goals and be focused. As it’s rightly said, life is a journey, not a destination.
