New York — During his ongoing diplomatic visit to the United States, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is engaging with key leaders and representatives from various sectors. As part of his meetings, he recently met with the CEOs of major U.S. technology companies. In continuation of this dialogue, today, the Prime Minister held a special meeting with prominent Sikh leaders from the American Sikh community.
Among those present were Jasdip Singh Jesse, Chairman of the renowned social service organization Sikhs of America, and Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, a distinguished Sikh businessman and recipient of prestigious recognition from the Government of India. Also accompanying them were Kamaljit Singh Soni, President of Sikhs of America, Vice President Baljinder Singh Shammi, and Sukhpal Singh Dhanoa, a prominent Sikh journalist.
During the meeting, the Sikh delegation expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for all the work he has done for the Sikh community. In a symbolic and respectful exchange, when the Sikh leaders greeted the Prime Minister with the traditional chant of Bole So Nihal, PM enthusiastically responded with Sat Sri Akal, demonstrating his warm engagement with the community.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Jasdip Singh Jesse highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving community concerns. “Since 2014, many issues faced by the Sikh community have been addressed and resolved through continued and open dialogue with Prime Minister Modi,” Jesse remarked, underscoring the significance of such interactions in strengthening relations between the Sikh community and the Indian government.
This meeting reflects the Prime Minister’s broader diplomatic efforts during his U.S. visit, where he is not only engaging with corporate leaders but also fostering meaningful discussions with diverse community representatives.
