Until September 2, 2022, at 5:00 pm local time, the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee is accepting submissions from Pakistani filmmakers for the 95th Academy Awards’ International Feature Film Award category.

So far, the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee has submitted nine films—Zinda Bhaag (2013), Dukhtar (2014), MOOR (2015), Mah-e-Mir (2016), Saawan (2017), Cake (2018), Lal Kabootar (2019), and Zindagi Tamasha (2020)—to be considered for an International Feature Film Academy Award.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, winner of both an Oscar and an Emmy, will preside over the 2022 Oscar Committee, which also includes musicians Ali Sethi and Omar Shahid Hamid, as well as authors Rafay Mahmood and Samina Ahmad, Jerjees Seja, Bee Gul, Rizwan Beyg, Mo Azmi, and actress Zeba Bakhtiar.

Pakistan’s official entry for the International Feature Film Award will be selected by a committee. A feature-length film (lasting more than 40 minutes) with a non-English conversation track that accounts for more than half of the film’s running time is considered an international film. Films that are entirely animated or entirely documentary are allowed.
