Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar both made their international debuts in the same year and have been crucial components of the Pakistan side ever since.

The two have played a lot of cricket together and have always been there for each other on and off the field.

Despite the fact that they’ve sparred a few times, the two aren’t at war. Following Shahid Afridi’s retirement announcement, the world’s fastest bowler sent a tweet to the hard-hitting all-rounder.

Akhtar Replied , “Rest kero Lala. Is umar main yeh ishq nahi asaan.”

Shahid Afridi retired from international cricket in 2016 and announced his decision publicly. He did, however, continue to play league cricket to keep his supporters entertained.

As an interesting side note, Shahid Afridi had earlier claimed that he intended to retire after the seventh season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), but a long-standing ailment forced him to step down early.

At one point, Afridi said in a YouTube video, “An old injury is making it tough and the anguish it causes is terrible that I can’t stand it any more.”

“My whole body was suffering right from the first game [in PSL 7], and last night, it got excruciating,” Afridi stated in an interview to a news program. His last words were, “I realize it’s a terrible choice, but I have to put my health first.”

Shahid Afridi has featured in every PSL edition thus far. Peshawar Zalmi, Karachi Kings, Multan Sultans, and Quetta Gladiators are among the teams he has represented.
