In the wake of his disappointing COVID-19 performance, Shahid Afridi, the legendary all-rounder, has rejoined the Quetta Gladiators. Afridi will be eligible for selection in Quetta’s next encounter which is slated to be played against Islamabad United on 3 February.

After acquiring COVID-19, Afridi was unable to play in Quetta’s first three PSL 7 games and was therefore ruled out for the remainder. In Karachi, he was quarantined at home after being permitted to leave the bio-secure bubble. Afridi was permitted to re-join the PSL bio-secure bubble after completing his obligatory quarantine time and obtaining a negative COVID-19 test.

Quetta Gladiators have struggled without the leg-assistance spinner’s in each of their first three games. While Sarfaraz XI has been competent in all three matches, they have been unable to stamp their authority which has resulted in two excruciating defeats. In the middle of the innings, if Afridi is still near to the bowler he was a few of years ago, his precise spin will be essential for Quetta the rest of the tournament.

Gladiators will also be aided by the anticipated arrival of their key overseas players, Jason Roy and James Vince. The English pair is slated to travel in Karachi tomorrow and should be ready for selection for Quetta’s encounter against Lahore Qalandars on 7 February.

The Purple Force presently sit at the third slot in the PSL points standings with 2 points from their first three matches. They’ll be fired up for their next match to make a strong recovery and clinch a berth in the top four.
