Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to outsource the management of the bio-secure bubble for the remaining PSL matches. It is still unclear when the remaining PSL matches will be held but sources have revealed that three windows are under consideration. The decision to outsource the bio-secure bubble was made during a meeting of PCB’s top brass in Karachi on Friday.
PSL was postponed after seven individuals, including six players and one official, tested positive for Covid-19. Since then PCB has faced a lot of criticism from the cricketing fraternity for their poor management of the event.
Sources revealed that PCB has decided to hold the rest of the tournament at one venue. The venues under consideration are Lahore, Karachi, or Rawalpindi. The final decision will be taken when the itinerary of the remaining matches will be finalized. PCB officials also discussed the possible windows in which the PSL could be played.
“Windows are May, June, or September. We will discuss players’ availabilities and international calendar with franchises before reaching a final conclusion on dates for the remaining matches,” the source said.
Pakistan national team is set to tour South Africa and Zimbabwe in the next few months, the first window will likely be after the tour of Zimbabwe. That window will clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL) which could cause a problem as many players are under contract in both leagues. The second window is June, which is post-IPL and the third window is September, before Pakistan’s series against New Zealand.
