On Tuesday, Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai arrived in Karachi to visit flood-ravaged areas of Sindh.

Malala, at 24, is the youngest person to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize. She is traveling with her parents and will be under heavy protection.

The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 is making his second trip to Pakistan.

Malala, a Pashtun girl from Pakistan’s Swat Valley, was airlifted to Birmingham for treatment after the Taliban shot her in the face when she was 15 for refusing to give up her right to an education.

The consequences of the shooting were widely criticized around the world.

She has become a global symbol for the fight against the Taliban’s efforts to restrict women’s access to education and other rights.

Yousafzai, then 17 years old, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 for her advocacy of children’s rights.
