Education for All Story by Saba Rehman

Education gives us knowledge of the society, place, and world around us and changes it into something really better according to our understandings. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, there are still challenges to school-age children, particularly for girls’ education in some rural areas.

These challenges include poverty and longstanding traditions but still, girls are very passionate about their education.

While doing this photo story in a Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistan, one 5th grade student told me: “Having a good education is important to one’s success in life for sure. And that’s why we daily come to school even on rainy days because we believe that education is the key to success.”

Some of the students were wearing home slippers inside the school and while asking her: “Why do you come to school with home shoes?” She replied: “The provincial government is giving us free books, but my parents can’t afford school boots for me so I wear socks with home slippers.”

Primary school classes of some Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan show a beautiful landscape. These little girls do combine studies in their classrooms too.
