Imran Ashraf is playing the male lead in a full-fledged rom-com for the first time in the drama scene. Then then, Dum Mastam is his rom-com project. Since she appeared in Chupke Chupke last year, Ayeza Khan is no stranger to Ramzan dramas, but it would be intriguing to see whether she takes on a different role this time.

In the teaser, the two main characters are shown in stark contrast to one another. A pehlwan by birth, Billu looks to be the son of an urbanized “shokha”—if that’s permissible to use the word. Ayeza’s character, on the other hand, hails from Hyderabad, a city on the other side of the country from Punjab.

In this case, it seems that opposites attract. Despite the lighthearted nature of Chaudhry & Sons, the film conveys a powerful message. Addressing the problem of’ same caste’ marriages and the rigidity with which family elders view inter-caste and inter-religious partnerships.

Opposing marriage beyond one’s ‘biraadari’ might even lead parents to doubt that happiness is possible for their children.

Billu and Pari’s father and mother, Sohail Ahmed and Irsa Ghazal, will have some fascinating on-screen chemistry. Families and morals play a major role in the plot. This Ramzan play has a writer, but who is it?

One and only Saima Akram Chaudhry is responsible. Suno Chanda, Ishq Jalebi, and Chupke Chupke are just a few of the playwright’s successful Ramadan plays.

Meanwhile, Chaudhry & Sons, a Geo TV production, is being directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain.
